There is just something about winter maternity photos

I have decided that I love capturing maternity photographs. Parents to be are glowing and excited as they wait for their little ones to arrive.

When you add the beauty of winter to that, the moments can be a bit magical.

As this Mama said "You only are ever pregnant with your first baby once." When she messaged me inquiring about a Newborn session.

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Christine and Pascal who are expecting their first wee one in just a few short days. We braved the cold temperatures, a balmy -15 and explored The Experimental Farm and the Greenhouse to take some outdoor photos in the beautiful winter surroundings. It resulted in a set of lovely and sweet photos.

Christine was a real sport about climbing snow banks and sitting on blankets in the snow. Thankfully Pascal was there to help out, offer a hand and keep her steady. :) The hour went by quickly and we got lucky because mother nature agreed

with us and presented us with a little bit of snow flurries even though none were called for until night time. We ended up with cold ears and hot chocolates that turned into chocolate milk but we were pretty happy regardless.

Seeing how genuinely happy these two are to become parents for the first time was wonderful. I am glad to have been able to capture this time in their lives so that they can preserve the memories for the future. Next up, a newborn session with the tiny baby girl! I'm excited, but I bet they are now anxiously counting down the days until she makes her appearance into this world.

Congratulations Christine and Pascal on the upcoming birth of your tiny bundle of joy! I'm sure she will be surrounded by love. Hopefully you get a few moments to relax and remember to breathe. :) Good luck! Bonne chance!

Throughout the years I have captured some special moments

Art has always been an intrinsic part of my life. From an early age my mother would find me sketching and painting on anything I could find including the cast off wood blocks from the cottage we were building on Red Indian River in Newfoundland. Nature provides me with an undying inspiration of the beauty that surrounds us.

Over 15 years ago  I fell in love with photography when I took a photojournalism class in college. Ever since a camera has not been far from my reach. Eight years ago I took a leap of faith and invested in camera gear. There was a bit of a rocky road to get to where I am now and a lot of things to learn about clients and the business world. After a short hiatus where I got married and decided to have a family I came back to my roots and spent day after day photographing my family as the wee ones started to grow. It inspired me about where my true passions lay and here I am today honouring 15 years of photography, 8 years stumbling and growing as a business to find myself in a place of peace and confidence that I can capture beautiful memories for those around me and document the moments in life that our soul and hearts will always remember.

Here is a look throughout the years

Patty & Cameron - I adore a wedding when there is water to be found

Patty & Cameron are a lovely quirky couple. It was a hoot to spend time with the guys and get to experience their quirky personalities first hand.

We snuck away for a little while and found a trail down to the water to grab these sweet little shots!
It was a little daunting to run threw the woods with a bride on her wedding day but the photos were so worth it and they are great sports about it all. We headed back inside just before the rain made its appearance.
